At Prairie Guardians, we imagine a world where farms and nature thrive together. We’re making it happen – one prairie strip at a time through a season-long fitness competition. Your entry fee supports our mission and contributes to a prize pool. To read more about our mission click here

How It Works

Contestants sponsor a parcel of land in the prairie strips and earn points through various activities. The person with the most points at the end of the season wins the grand prize! There are monthly prizes as well as various fitness challenges along the way with their own prizes

You are welcome to get local businesses to sponsor your entry fee and support you through the competition. You can also earn  a free entry by first signing up for our affiliate program and referring 5 friends to the competition who sign up. You will still get points for those referrals. The entry fee is $5 per month or a one time fee of $50 for the year.

Activities to earn points

**Walk Challenge:**
– Participants earn 2 points daily for tracked steps; share on social media for 1 bonus point using our competition hashtag.

**Run Challenge:**
– Earn 2 points daily for tracked runs; gain 1 extra point by sharing on social media with our competition hashtag.

**Bike Challenge:**
– Accumulate 2 points daily for tracked bike rides; 1 extra point for sharing on social media using our competition hashtag.

**Ruck Challenge:**
– Get 2 points daily for tracked rucking; 1 bonus point for social media sharing with our competition hashtag. Earn 2 extra points for rucking events supporting soldiers.

**Gym Challenge:**
– Earn 2 points per tracked gym visit; 1 extra point for sharing workouts on social media with our competition hashtag.

**Eco Challenge:**
– Gain 2 points for eco-friendly actions; earn bonus points by sharing educational content on sustainable living on your social media.

**Park Visit:**
– Participants earn 4 points for exploring National and State parks; 1 extra point for sharing experiences on social media with our competition hashtag.

**Hiking Challenge:**
– Earn 2 points for tracked hikes; 1 extra point for sharing on social media using our competition hashtag. Highlight environmentally conscious hiking practices.

**Paddle Sports Challenge:**
– Accumulate 2 points for paddle sports; gain 1 extra point for social media sharing with our competition hashtag. Emphasize water conservation awareness.

**Meditation Challenge
– Earn 2 points for completing the weekly meditation challenge and keeping notes

**Healthy Eating Challenge:**
– Accumulate 2 points for cooking a healthy meal with local foods; gain 1 extra point for social media sharing with our competition hashtag. Shout out the local farm where you got the food.

**Referral Challenge:**
– Participants earn 5 points for successful referrals. When you refer friends with our affiliate program, you also get paid 20% commission for each friend for the main competition, so just refer 5 friends and you get your entry fee paid for. Top referrers can win extra prizes. If you are an influencer with 10,000 or more followers, we are looking for you. We can offer you a free entry if you will help us promote the competition, plus 20% commission per follower who signs up for the competition.

Leaderboards for each activity will showcase competitors with the most tracked miles. Clear guidelines and tracking mechanisms will be provided for each activity.

The current competitive challenge is inspired by the Irish and Highland Games Sheaf Toss. Make a 5 or 10 pound sandbag with a handle, and toss it over your heard over a high bar or tree branch, something you can measure, but also something that you can increase the height of. Video your best throw and submit it for the competition. If you want to be really authentic, make the sheaf out of a 10 pound bundle of straw and use a pitchfork to toss it over your head. Submit your video on the members page and on social media using #sheaftosscompetition2024

Every few months, we will have a new challenge inspired by an International game, with prizes for the winners.

**Additional Prizes:**
– Other challenges, such as virtual races, will be announced during the competition with unique prizes for the winners and additional points awarded. If you have ideas for prizes you would like to see in this competition or future ones, please let us know here

International Participation Clause

Eligibility: Our fitness competition is primarily open to residents of the United States. However, we welcome participants from other countries under the participation conditions for international competitors in the terms and conditions. The grand prize includes airfare from the US, so you would be responsible for any additional fees and international shipping for any other prizes

Prairie Guardians is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit registered with the IRS and also registed in the State of Illinois, our home base. Your entry fee can be considered a tax deductible charity contribution

The contest sign up period starts now and is ongoing throughout the year. The grand prize competition phase will start as soon as we get 1000 entries and go for 2 months to make sure as many people as possible can compete for the grand prize. Once that grand prize competition is finished, we will start another one
